Groundbreaking at Peace Garden
Press Release
October 10, 2015
On Sunday, October 18, 2015, hundreds gathered in Medford as the Mayor led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Krystle Campbell Peace Garden project. Shadley Associates is proud to be the Landscape Architect for this project, dedicated to honor the victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. The garden, named for one of the victims, Medford native Krystle Campbell, started with plans to build just a park bench in her name, but quickly grew to a $1.3 million project funded by state and federal grants as well as private donations. As the Landscape Architects for the project, Shadley Associates designed the garden with a central fountain dedicated to the four people who lost their lives. Walkways with inspirational words and a pavement route with markers of the Boston Marathon itself are nestled into a contemplative garden with extensive landscaping. The Peace Garden salutes the power of the human spirit.
