University Station
Shadley Associates is the landscape architect and site planner for University Station, a 140 acre, 2 million square foot mixed use development adjacent to the Route 128 MBTA Commuter Rail / Amtrak Station in Westwood. New England Development is the lead developer, and the project includes a significant retail component, as well as a 350-unit residential development, a signature hotel, a memory care facility, substantial office buildings and New England's first Life Time Athletic family health club.
To provide a cohesive signature identity across the entire project, Shadley Associates created an open space network of pedestrian-friendly bike paths and open park spaces, lined all roadways with extensive plantings and stone walls, and used a palette of familiar New England materials, forms and native plantings. SA is currently working on the 700’ long central open space for Phase Three of the project.
